OVERVIEW
Mohammad Hariz Shah Mohammad Hazim Shah is a senior lecturer at the School of Law (SOL), College of Law, Government and International Studies (COLGIS), Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM). He holds a PhD in Law (Islamic Law) from Akademi Pengajian Islam, Universiti Malaya (APIUM), Postgraduate Diploma in Administration and Islamic Judiciary (DAIJ) from Ahmad Ibrahim Kulliyyah of Laws (AIKOL), International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM), Bachelor in Syariah with Law (Honours) and Diploma in Syariah and Islamic Jurisprudence from International Islamic University College Selangor (KUIS). His PhD thesis entitled “Transformasi Perundangan Islam di Malaysia: Kajian Terhadap Pemikiran dan Sumbangan Ahmad Mohamed Ibrahim (1916-1999)” focusing on the works of Profesor Ahmad Ibrahim from legal and judiciary aspects, particularly in harmonizing between Syariah-Civil laws in Malaysia. His research interests are Jurisdictional Conflicts between Shariah-Civil, Administration of Islamic Law/Shariah Courts and Prominent Figures Biography. Not only academic, he also actively writes non-academic creative writings published in Dewan Bahasa, Tunas Cipta, Dewan Masyarakat, Dewan Siswa, Dewan Budaya and Dewan Tamadun Islam, ranging from poetry, short stories and essay articles. Apart from that, his critical thoughts on national contempary issues also published in mainstream newspapers such as Utusan Malaysia and Berita Harian. This prolific author also writes on prominent figures who contribute significant impact to the society, inter alia, Profesor Emeritus Tan Sri Datuk Ahmad Mohamed Ibrahim, Profesor Emeritus Tan Sri Dato’ Dr Khoo Kay Kim, Dato’ Sudirman Arshad, Dato’ Sri Siti Nurhaliza Taruddin and Aina Abdul to name a few in Dewan Masyarakat. He loves doing movies and music critics as well as he is an avid fan of awards shows. Sometimes, he sings in class using his God-given talent just to attract students’ attention. As a cat lover, he works very hard to feed his three babies.
