Dr. Ferdous Alam is a Senior Lecturer at Universiti Utara Malaysia, celebrated for his research and teaching prowess. With 16 years of research experience and nine years of teaching students from diverse backgrounds, his approach integrates critical thinking, practical application, and academic rigor to prepare students for success.
He earned his Ph.D. and completed Post-Doctoral Research at the National University of Malaysia, following a four-year industry career. His academic qualifications include an MBA in Marketing, International Business, and HRM, and a BBA in Management.
Dr. Ferdous teaching philosophy fosters critical thinking and practical skills, enhancing students' academic and professional achievements.
His research is interdisciplinary, covering business management, economics, environmental studies, and social development. He has published 119 articles including 56 journal papers. His achievements include the highest KPI score from 2019-2024, the Excellent Service Award. His research interests include International Economics, Sustainability Management, Oil Palm and Palm Oil, Environmental Disaster Management, and International Business Management.
Dr. Ferdous is active in academic networks and research affiliations, including roles as an Associate Fellow at the Center for Sustainability Research and Consultancy (CSRC), a Senior International Research Fellow at The National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER), a Research Fellow at UNEC-Centre for European Economy, and a member of the CONNECTING ASIA research network. He also serves as an editorial member and reviewer for several indexed journals.
As a mentor, researcher, and educator, Dr. Ferdous continues to impact students, colleagues, and the field of development economics and sustainability.
