OVERVIEW
Edie is a Senior Lecturer in Banking & Finance and the Program Chair of the Bachelor of Banking program at the School of Economics, Finance, and Banking, Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM). Before joining UUM, he served in various executive roles, including Database Management, Cash Recovery, and Insurance at Maybank and as Senior Executive in ATM Services Vendor Management at Malaysian Electronic Payment Systems Sdn. Bhd. (MEPS). Edie holds a Ph.D. in Banking & Finance from the University of St Andrews, Scotland, awarded in 2019, and an MBA with Distinction in Islamic Banking and Finance from Bangor University, Wales, in 2014. He also earned a BBA in Islamic Banking (2011) and a Diploma in Banking (2009) from Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), where he received the Vice Chancellor’s Award twice. His research focuses on bank capital, banking competition, payout policies, financial safety nets, and executive compensation. Edie’s work appears in leading finance journals, including the Journal of Financial Stability, Journal of Financial Services Research, Journal of International Money and Finance, Jurnal Pengurusan, Review of Corporate Finance, Journal of Financial Reporting and Accounting, International Journal of Bank Marketing, and International Real Estate Review. In research, Edie has completed two grants as Principal Investigator through UUM and as a team member with the National Real Estate Research Coordinator (NAPREC). His current projects are funded under the Inisiatif Pendapatan Rakyat - Basmi Miskin Tegar (IPR-BMT) by the Ministry of Economy and the Program Anak Kita by Yayasan Hasanah. Edie is also an associate editor for Capital Markets Review, a peer reviewed journal published by Malaysian Finance Association.
