Khai Lin, CHONG is currently a Senior Lecturer in Environmental and Disaster Management at the School of Technology Management and Logistics (STML), Universiti Utara Malaysia. Khai Lin received her Doctoral Degree in Civil and Earth Resources Engineering from Kyoto University. Throughout her career in UUM, Khai Lin has actively contributed to organizing symposiums and conferences at the international level with her colleagues in UUM and other universities. With an academic background in civil and environmental engineering and disaster management, Khai Lin's main research interest revolves around strengthening the science-policy-public interface and delivering scientific knowledge or technical information by using non-scientific/technical ways, specifically in water-related disasters. Khai Lin is also the Director of the Disaster Management Institute in STML, Universiti Utara Malaysia, and she has actively participated in collaborative projects with other universities in the Asian Cooperative Program Consortium in the areas of Disaster Risk Reduction and Community Resilience from 2017 to the present. She has previously held an administrative position in the UUM International Office, focusing on international relations and international student development. Other than that, Khai Lin is also involved with programs that bring community resilience as the main agenda. Khai Lin actively participates in the UNESCO-IHP Program, which focuses on promoting water-related programs on national and global agendas, such as Women and Water, National Water Camp for students in all levels of education and many more. Khai Lin is also a volunteer and trainer for MERCY Malaysia in who is involved in facilitating community-based disaster risk management for water-related disasters high-risk areas.
