Dr. Azizah Abdullah is a counselling psychology specialist and Accredited Trainer (HRD Corp, MOHR) with expertise in creative-expressive arts, play therapy, and forensic art therapy. Her work focuses on arts-based interventions in mental health, education, human development, and workplace well-being. She leads research on creative and play therapy across diverse populations and supervises postgraduate students from national agencies and international partners, including the Ministry of Health, LPPKN (Ministry of Women, Family & Community Development), Universiti Malaysia Sabah, Universiti Sultan Zainal Abidin, and Mainland China. She also serves as an adjunct professor at Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia (2023-2025).
Dr. Azizah has contributed to a WHO global panel forum alongside universities in the UK, USA, and Australia. She completed a visiting scholar appointment at Edge Hill University in the UK during her sabbatical leave in 2024. She is a professional member of IEATA, EFAT, IACAET, and the International Society of Substance Use Professionals (ISSUP). In addition, she serves on the International Advisory Panel for the Scopus-indexed journal Body, Movement & Dance in Psychotherapy (Taylor & Francis).
Her recent publications include a chapter with Jessica Kingsley Publishers (UK) published in 2022 and an invited chapter for Routledge (UK) to be published in 2026.
