OVERVIEW
Ts. Dr. Mohd Hasbullah Omar is an Associate Professor at the School of Computing, Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM). He obtained his Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Information Technology from UUM in 2012, where his research introduced an innovative signal detection algorithm utilizing singular value decomposition (SVD) to enhance the capabilities of cognitive radio for Wireless Regional Area Networks (WRAN). In addition, he holds a Master of Science in Information Technology (2004), with a thesis focusing on the integration of smart cards and fingerprint technology for ATM systems, as well as a Bachelor of Engineering (Hons.) in Electronic, Telecommunication, and Computer Engineering from the University of Bradford, UK. Since joining UUM in 1999, he has held significant academic and administrative positions. Among his key roles was serving as the Deputy Dean (Academic and International) from February 2022 to December 2024, where he was responsible for undergraduate and postgraduate program management, faculty workload coordination, and curriculum development. Prior to that, he served as the Head of the Computer Science Department (2012–2018), playing a crucial role in overseeing Master’s and Ph.D. programs as well as managing academic and operational affairs within the faculty. His research expertise spans cognitive radio networks, wireless sensor networks, and future internet technologies. He is also actively involved in academic publishing, with an extensive publication portfolio, including articles in high-impact journals and prestigious international conference proceedings. In terms of teaching, he conducts computer networking courses, including Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), at the undergraduate level. At the postgraduate level, he teaches courses related to cybersecurity. Beyond his academic responsibilities, Ts. Dr. Mohd Hasbullah has been actively involved in projects related to the governance of data collection systems in public universities (IPTA), including the Graduate Tracer Study System and the graduate reference hub, since 2021. He plays a key role in project management, data integration, and data quality.
