Prof. Dr. Shri Dewi Applanaidu is attached to the Department of Economics and Agribusiness, School of Economics, Finance and Banking (SEFB), Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM). Her research interests are in the area of Agricultural Economics, Agricultural Commodity Modeling, and Food Security. She also has produced several publications nationally and internationally in the form of journal articles, books, chapter in books, proceedings, newspaper articles and magazines/bulletins.
Besides publications, she has also been invited as keynote speakers in few international and national conferences. She is an active researcher in the national and international level. Her passion in innovation enable her and her team won two (2) gold and three (3) silver medals in the International Innovation Exhibitions. She also owns 12 copyrights and one (1) licensing for her innovations.
In terms of consultation, she has been appointed as a Short Term Consultant for two World Bank projects entitled “Towards a New Approach for Malaysia’s Paddy and Rice Policy” in 2020 and “Agricultural Transformation and Inclusive Growth” in 2018. She has also completed a consultation with Federal Agricultural Marketing Authority (FAMA), Council of Palm Oil Producing Countries (CPOPC) and Universitas Indonesia (UI). Recently in early year 2024, she has successfully completed a short consultation entitled "Developing a Generic Profiling Framework for manufacturing, agriculture and services sectors in Northern Region States of Malaysia" in less than three months with the amount of consultation of RM120,000. She also has been appointed as Fundamental Grant Research Scheme (FRGS) Reviewer at the University and Ministry of Higher Education (KPT) level from year 2020-2024.
