Dr. Mohd Faiz Mohd Yaakob (Faiz) is an Associate Professor at the School of Education, Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM), specializing in educational management, planning, and policy.
His research focuses on educational law, school culture, teacher competencies, and teacher education, with a particular emphasis on professional learning communities and a growing interest in Q methodology. At UUM, Faiz has held several key administrative roles, including Deputy Dean (Academic & International) in 2025, Deputy Dean (Research & Innovation) (2022–2023), Programme Coordinator for the MSc in Educational Management and Principalship (2021–2022), and Coordinator of the Postgraduate Diploma in Education Programme (2020).
Currently, Faiz is a Visiting Scholar at the School of Maori and Indigenous Education, Faculty of Arts and Education, University of Auckland, New Zealand, under a fellowship (Post-Doctoral) funded by the Ministry of Higher Education, Malaysia. At the University of Auckland, he is undertaking the CATALYST project, which examines language policy, assessment readiness, and equitable bilingual education for Malay Indigenous students. Through this postdoctoral research, he aims to advance scholarship in educational equity, language planning, and assessment frameworks, while strengthening international research collaboration and publication.
