OVERVIEW
Prof. Madya Dr. Risyawati binti Mohamed Ismail is an esteemed Associate Professor at Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM), specializing in Technology Management, with a focus on halal industry management, food innovation, intellectual property (IP), and sustainable animal feed. With a Ph.D. from UUM and extensive industry experience, she has played a pivotal role in advancing halal standards and food safety globally. Dr. Risyawati has an extensive research portfolio, particularly in the areas of halal industry management, food innovation, intellectual property (IP), and sustainable animal feed. Her work in the halal industry is profound and long-standing, beginning in 1998 with various roles in multinational companies related to food and healthcare. Over her 15 years in the industry, she has gained comprehensive experience in food quality standards such as MeSTI, GMP, HACCP, and Halal Assurance System (HAS). She has served as a QA Executive, QA Manager, and QA Consultant, eventually taking on leadership roles in halal committees across various organizations. Dr. Risyawati's research spans across halal operation management, where she has developed key frameworks and innovations in halal-certified products. Her work extends to advising international bodies like the Ningxia International Halal Food Certification and Trade Centre in China and IIDC Austria, on halal compliance and food safety. She is a recognized innovator in food innovation, particularly in functional foods and sustainable practices, driving the development of alternative protein sources and sustainable feed for poultry and aquaculture. Her dedication to research and innovation has earned her numerous accolades, including national and international awards for her contributions to halal research, food safety, and product development and continues to contribute to the academic community and the halal industry through research, consultancy, and active involvement in various national and international projects.
