Azilah Kasim is a full professor at the School of Tourism, Hospitality and Event Management, Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM), Sintok, Kedah, Malaysia. She earned her PhD in Tourism Management from University of East Anglia, Norwich, United Kingdom; her MSc. in Park, Recreation and Tourism Resources from Michigan State University, East Lansing, USA; and her BSc.(Hons.) in Environmental Studies from Brock University, St. Catharines, Canada. She was the Deputy Dean of Research and Postgraduate Studies for her school for two years. Currently she heads her school’s center of excellence called Langkawi International Tourism and Hospitality (LITH). Azilah is a quality accreditation panelist for Malaysia Qualifications Agency (MQA) and a member of the Tourism Educator Association Malaysia (TEAM). She is a member of several Board of Studies in Malaysian universities and is a well-recognized Ph.D. thesis external examiner. On international platforms, Azilah has been invited to universities in Thailand, Indonesia, Singapore, India, Nepal, Jordan, and Bangladesh as either a visiting professor, a keynote or plenary speaker, a workshop facilitator, or a trainer. She is also a national/regional representative and board member for Asia Pacific Tourism Association (APTA) and International Experts for Research Enrichment and Knowledge Exchange (IEREK). In the past, Azilah has received a scholarship to pursue post-doctorate at the University of British Columbia, Canada. Now, in addition to her position as Chief Editor of Journal of Events, Tourism and Hospitality Studies (JETH) in UUM, Azilah also contributes as an editorial board member of many international journals such as the Asia Pacific Journal of Innovation in Tourism and Hospitality, Journal of Tourism and Hospitality Insights, Tourism and Spirituality, The Ottoman Journal and the On Sustainability Journal. Azilah is a well-cited author in her field (current Scopus Index: 14, Google Scholar H-Index: 20) and an advisory board member or reviewer for many reputable international academic journals. She is also a certified member of the Neuro-linguistic programming (NLP) and American Hotels and Lodging Education Institute (AHLEI). Currently, Azilah is actively pursuing her research interests and publishing in the area of corporate social responsibility, corporate environmentalism, environmental management, hotel management, and tourism marketing. She also has several books under her name.
