OVERVIEW
Dr. Suhaidi Hassan is the Professor of Computing Networks at UUM School of Computing. He is the founding chair of the UUM InterNetWorks Research Laboratory which spearheads advanced research on Internet computing and protocol engineering. Prof. Suhaidi Hassan is a senior member of the US-based Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE), and actively involved in both IEEE Communications and IEEE Computer societies. He is the Internet Society (ISOC) Fellow to the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF). In 2006, he was selected as a WKD Foundation (Switzerland)’s Young Scientist Fellow at the World Knowledge Dialogue, in Crans-Montana, Switzerland. In the same year, he led a task force for the establishment of the ITU-UUM Asia Pacific Centre of Excellence (ASP CoE) for Rural ICT Development, a human resource development initiative of the Geneva-based International Telecommunication Union (ITU) which serves as the focal point for all rural ICT development initiatives across Asia Pacific region. In addition to presenting research papers at renown research conferences, Dr. Suhaidi Hassan participates in international fora such as ICANN meetings, Internet Governance Forums, the IETF meetings and the IEEE meetings. He has authored and co-authored more than 250 refereed technical publications, successfully supervised 25 PhD scholars in the area of computer and communication networks, served as reviewer and referee for refereed journals and conferences on computing networks as well as the examiner for more than fifty doctoral and postgraduate scholars in his research areas. Prof. Suhaidi Hassan is married and a beloved father of five.
