Dr. Kashan Pirzada is the Senior Lecturer in Financial Accounting at Tunku Puteri Intan Safinaz School of Accountancy (TISSA) and the Associate Fellow of the Asian Research Institute of Corporate Governance, University Utara Malaysia. Previously, he was the senior researcher in Financial Accounting and Corporate Governance at the University of Malaya and received a Ph.D. in Accounting from the University of Malaya. Dr. Pirzada had research and academic appointments at Bahria University, the Institute of Business Management, SMI University, and the PAF-KIET University before joining University Utara Malaysia in 2018.
Dr. Pirzada's research interests are accounting and corporate governance, corporate disclosure, CSR/Sustainability, earnings management, and corporate reporting practices in South Asia. Dr. Pirzada has published more than 40 papers in such scholarly journals as Social Responsibility Journal, Cogent Business & Management, Elsevier Journal of Social and Behavioural Sciences, British Accounting and Finance, Cogent Economics and Finance, Journal of Risk and Financial Management, Foresight and STI Governance, Entrepreneurship, and Sustainability Issues, Polish Journal of Management Studies, Journal of Security and Sustainability Issues, PERTANIKA Journal of Social Sciences and Humanities, and International Journal of Economics and Management, and writing regular opinion pieces for The EPOCH Times.
He is currently on the editorial board of several reputable refereed journals such as the International Journal of Ethics and Systems, Foresight and STI Governance, International Trade, and Business Law Review, Founding Editor of Accounting and Finance Review, Journal of Finance and Banking Review, Journal of Business and Economics Review. He has been an Adhoc reviewer for several other journals, including the International Review of Financial Analysis, Journal of Applied Accounting Research, and Financial Innovation. He has contributed to several edited collections with monographs on contemporary business and social sciences issues and presented at many international conferences and workshops.
Dr. Pirzada has supervised several Honours and Master’s degree students and 5 PhD candidates to completion. Currently, he supervises Ph.D. students at UUM, focusing on financial accounting and governance, deductive perspectives on accounting and accountability, and sustainability and accounting.
