OVERVIEW
Dr. Shukri Ahmad was an Associate Professor at the Center for General Studies, College of arts and Sciences, Universiti Utara Malaysia. He became a lecturer in 1994 and was attached at the School of Social Development, Universiti Utara Malaysia. Dr. Shukri access to higher education at the University of Malaya in the field of Islamic theology and later on pursuing his studies at the International Islamic University in the field of Islamic Revealed Knowledge and Heritage (MAIRKH) in 1992. In 2003 he obtained a doctorate from the University Science of Malaysia. He served as Head of Department for General studies, Faculty of Education and Science Cognitive, UUM. Afterwards, he was named as a Director of the Islamic Centre, Universiti Utara Malaysia (2005-2008) and his final post was a post-graduate program coordinator, Center for General Studies, College Arts and Sciences, Universiti Utara Malaysia. He has produced several academic books, among them are “ the influence of Ulama’s Thought in the late 20th century” (2011) and “Culture and Islamic Work Ethics in the organization” (2001). In additions, he has also written several chapters in books, articles in journals at national and international levels as easily as producing 35 articles in the proceedings. Dr. Shukri also presented 73 papers at the international and the national levels. He was involved in several research grants at the university and national level. Among his research is, of cross-border marriages, the study of Islamic work ethic in Small and Medium Scale Industries, The Review of Private School and the Study of Scenarios Pondok in Kedah. He has successfully supervised five doctoral students and six graduate for Masters degrees. Most areas of his supervision were on Islamic thought and civilization.
