OVERVIEW
Juhaida Abu Bakar is a Senior Lecturer at the School of Computing, Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM). Her research interests are computational linguistics, artificial intelligence, machine learning and content-based information retrieval. She is attached to Data Science Research Lab at School of Computing, UUM. She did her Bachelor of Information Technology with Honours (majoring in Artificial Intelligence) at the Universiti Utara Malaysia. Her research during her Master of Information Technology (System Science and Management) at the Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia was on the developing an old Jawi to new Jawi transliteration prototyping system based on grapheme. During her PhD study at the same university, she developed three modules algorithms:(i) transliteration Jawi-Buckwalter code algorithm, (ii) JawiTokenizer algorithm, and (iii) a part-of-speech tagging algorithm for Jawi writing and applied the algorithm in old malay text such as Quranic old version, ancient text and manuscript. She has authored many scientific papers related to computational linguistics in referred journals and conferences. She is also actively involved in research projects and is supervising several postgraduate students beside her usual teaching workload.
