Mr. Azahar Kasim is presently a lecturer at School of Multimedia Technology and Communication, College of Arts and Sciences, Universiti Utara Malaysia specializing in the area of Communication and Media Technology (Journalism). He also former special officer (media) for Vice Chancellor UUM, Prof Datuk Dr Mohamed Mustafa Ishak and former Director Corporate Communication UUM. He also former Special Officer for former Vice Chancellor UUM, Tan Sri Nordin Kardi Mr Azahar receives his Masters degree in Media Studies from University Malaya in 2001, and was conferred his Bachelor degree in Mass Communication Studies (Specializing in Journalism) by Universiti Teknologi Mara Malaysia in 1992. He also continue PhD at University Malaya until now. His tenure with Universiti Utara Malaysia is only getting into his six year, but, his contribution particularly to Media & Technology, Broadcasting and Journalism is greatly felt, and the discipline has moved to a new milestone of progress and achievements. Today, under his academic leadership and commitment, College of Arts and Sciences has established its own online newspaper, magazine and various publications for internal and external readers. The success achieved thus far, is an attribution of Mr.Azahar eighteen (18) years of experience as senior and executive editor, and reporter with various media like Berita Harian, Harian Metro, Watan, and other media organizations. Capitalising on his diverse experiences in news reporting and editorial jobs, Mr.Azahar is also an active researcher, consultant and trainer in his area of interest cutting across public and private institutions in Malaysia. He is also an active member of various non governmental agencies like Journalist and Malay Writer National Association of Malaysia (PKWPMM) and Communication Scholar Association of Malaysia (PERSKOM) various a like. Mr.Azahar is presently involved with various research, consultation and training jobs not only with the Malaysia public and private sectors, but at international level. Most recent consultation work that Mr. Azahar is Chairman i-COMTOUR Training and Consultation are the 2009 UNESCO Continuous Professional Development for Bangladeshi Teacher Trainers; 2009 American University in Cairo Learning Visits; English For Communication for various university at Thailand such as Bansomdej Chaopraya Rajabaht University, Bangkok, Nakhom Pathom Rajabaht University, Kanchanabori, Bangkok, Kasem Bundit University and Tepsetry University Bangkok, and others to name a few. In short, his professional background, experiences and later training and expertise in media & technology, broadcasting and journalism have helped him to deliver and customize media needs training to different organization, corporate bodies, and other groups of interest in Malaysia.
