Professor Dr. Hassan Abu Bakar is a Professor of Communication and Management and a Dean at the Othman Yeop Abdullah Graduate of Business, Universiti Utara Malaysia. He came to academe after a career in industry, having worked in multinational corporations based in Europe and the US. He received his PhD in communication management from the Universiti Utara Malaysia / University of Queensland Business School. His research is in leadership, organizational communication, ethics, and cross-cultural communication in organizations. His research has been published in leading management journals including Cross-Cultural and Strategic Management and Leadership & Organizational Development. He is Editor for Southeast Asia Management Review. Hassan has served as the Deputy Dean of Research, Innovation, and Knowledge Transfer as well as the Director of the Institute for Leadership, Innovation, and Change at OYAGSB. Prior to joining the OYAGSB, Hassan was the Head of the Communication Department in the School of Multimedia Technology & Communication at UUM. In addition to his leadership and administration experiences, he has experience planning international and regional conferences. Hassan also serves as an advisor for the Public Service Department for the Strategic Leadership Module for Malaysia Senior Government Officials.
