OVERVIEW
Dr. Mohd Nizam Saad received his Bachelor and Master degree in Information Technology from Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM). He later received his Ph.D. degree from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM). His research domain was in the medial image processing. In his doctoral research project, he formed a new model for medical image annotation. The main aim of this research is to annotate chest X-ray image with spatial relationship features so that annotation assist image retrieval from image repository. Additionally, the annotation also help radiologist to embed diagnosis information such as the lesions location in lung zones into the image for advanced content based image retrieval. Currently, he is exploring multi-stage image feature extraction using hybrid method for medical image. Upon success, the outcome from this research can be occupied in many image processing task such as image segmentation, image feature classification, image restoration. Apart from image processing, Dr Mohd Nizam Saad also likes to explore human-computer interaction research especially on improving usability features. He has wide experience on conducting usability study specifically using expert review via cognitive walk-through technique. The study is very useful to help developers improving the user interface design as well as increasing the usability level for their system.
