OVERVIEW
I am Senior Lecturer in the School of Languages, Civilisation and Philosophy, College of Arts and Sciences where I teach Discourse Analysis to postgraduate students doing Master of Applied Linguistics. I specialise in interethnic communication, interpersonal communication, hospitality language, TESL, and discourse analysis. My interests include understanding how people relate to and communicate with others, making sense of each other; exploring the difficulties encountered in the process, and making sense of student-teacher realms, specifically in the areas of English language teaching and learning difficulties. Other courses taught include Semantics and Psycholinguistics (Master of Applied Linguistics) and proficiency courses including English for Hospitality Purposes. I also taught in Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (1991-1999) and in a secondary school in Melaka (1990-1991). I am a life member of the Malaysian Editors Association and a member of Global Higher Education network (GHEN) USM.
