OVERVIEW
I am presently Senior Lecturer at the School of Education and Modern Language Studies, Universiti Utara Malaysia. I teach courses on translation, linguistics and literature. My areas of interest include the translation of children’s books, gender studies, ‘chick lit’, literary translation, and comparative literature. I am working on several Fundamental Research Scheme Grant projects that deal mainly with popular literature and reception studies. The FRGS project that I lead is on the construction of gender identity in Malay chick lit. I also lead a research project on the development of literary translation in Malaysia from precolonial period to present (University Grant).
