OVERVIEW
Dr Noor Afza Amran is a Professor at Tunku Puteri Intan Safinaz School of Accountancy (TISSA-UUM), Universiti Utara Malaysia. Currently she is a Director and a Research Fellow at ASIAN Research Institute for Corporate Governance (ARICG-UUM). She received her degree in Bachelor of Commerce and Management (Accounting) in 1997 from Lincoln University, New Zealand, and obtained her Post Graduate Diploma in Commerce and Business Studies in 1998 from Lincoln University, New Zealand. She received her Master of Business Administration (Accounting) in year 2000 and Doctor of Philosophy (Corporate Governance) in year 2011 from Universiti Utara Malaysia. Previously, she was the Coordinator of TISSA Post Graduate Studies. She also holds the position of Manager of Project Management and Rating Units (iPMO/SETARA) for Universiti Utara Malaysia. She has been in service for more than 20 years. She teaches Undergraduate and Postgraduate courses such as Seminar in Corporate Governance, Seminar in Auditing, Risk Management & Corporate Governance, Forensic Accounting, Auditing I & II and Integrated Case Study. Her research areas are Corporate Governance, Auditing, Fraud, Women Studies, Sustainability (ESG) and Financial Reporting Quality. She has been granted research funds from the Ministry of Higher Education, Industry Grants, Matching Grants, and UUM Grants for topics related to corporate governance, family performance, board diversity, ethical behaviours (ethics and corruption), internal audit, risk management, and ESG. She is actively involved as a case writer for writing up Teaching Case for teaching purposes. She also has successfully supervised several PhD and master's candidates. She also involved in consultation projects in the area of internal audit, risk management, and ESG.
